The Travel, Experience and Make an Impact program was created for those who wish to explore, learn, and take part in an enlightening traveling experience by immersion in a new world. Throughout this trip each participant will have the chance to explore the many Eco-systems in one of the 7 Mega Diverse countries in the world. You will see the Spanish colonial influences in Latin America, be immersed in a Spanish speaking country and discover indigenous cultures in Ecuador. You will not only learn through your ventures but you will also have the opportunity to make a difference that will positively affect the preservation of ecosystems and help to develop communities in a sustainable way. Most importantly Escape to Ecuador includes this diversity in activities so that everyone will have a great time, will make the most of their travels and will return home with a sense of accomplishment by participating in tourism for a better planet!

Itinerary Day 1 Thursday Arrive to Quito we pick you up at the airport and take you to your accommodation. Next, we will take you to enjoy the beautiful view from the Terrace while you enjoy your Welcome Dinner at Vista Hermosa in Historical Colonial Quito. Day 2 Friday Breakfast orientation/ Scale the Teleférico that lifts you to the top of Mt. Pichincha and observe the city and the surrounding snow-capped Andes Mountains from 13,500 feet of elevation. Here you will also have the chance to go horse back riding on the mountain top. We will then tour Quito’s Colonial City. Quito was named the world’s first UNESCO Human Heritage Center. We will stop for lunch at one of the many traditional Ecuadorian colonial restaurants walk through “La Ronda” and then tour the many plazas, cathedrals, and the presidential palace all of Spanish Colonial construction. Day 3 Saturday Travel by Private bus to Mindo. Mindo is located in the Ecuadorian Cloud Forest eco-system. Mindo has one of the highest densities of biological diversity and over 400 different species of birds. We will arrive to Mindo in the morning and put our things in our rooms at the hotel. From there, we will go canopying and glide above the tree tops and observe the cloud forest from above. We will then take a hike to the some beautiful waterfalls and get a chance to take a swim. After our morning activities we will return to town for lunch and have time to relax and enjoy the pool and Jacuzzi with games and contests. Later on we will sit down for dinner and have free time at night in Mindo and then back to the hotel. Day 4 Sunday After breakfast we will depart for tubing in the Mindo River and float down through this breathtaking environment. From here we will take a walk through town where we will have a chance to stop at the markets and stores of Mindo to bring back memories of our experience. We then return to the hotel to pack up our things and take our private bus to the Northern Ecuadorian Coast at our Ecological Reserve, El Congal. Day 5 Monday Have Breakfast and a welcome tour to see the reserve, the projects, activities and goals that El Congal is accomplishing and working towards by preserving the environment and developing the surrounding communities in a sustainable model. Volunteers wishing to volunteer at the Congal Biomarine Station will be able to participate in a wide range of activities. The program is quite flexible and volunteers can choose the activities they are most interested to participate in during their time at Congal. Personal projects can be tailored with Escape to Ecuador’s staff to suit personal or academic needs and ideas are always welcome. By participating in a wide range of activities, volunteers get a feeling of the local reality while learning about conservation and social issues; it is a true learning and personal growth experience. The interaction of volunteers/visitors with the locals also becomes a multicultural experience that broadens everyone’s horizons and empowers them to take action and propose their own solutions. Day 6 Tuesday Congal Day 7 Wednesday Congal Day 8 Thursday Congal Day 9 Friday After our activities at Congal during the Day we will pack up and Take our Private bus about an hour and a half away to the beach town Tonsupa. We will check into our accommodations, Have dinner and see the town before returning to our hotel. Day 10 Saturday After breakfast we will take the Tonsupa boat tour to beaches around the area. We will have lunch and have free time to enjoy the beach and the Sunset before dinner. After dinner we will have a bon fire on the beach. Day 11 Sunday We will relax in Tonsupa during the day, and get back to Congal for Dinner. Day 12 Monday Congal Day 13 Tuesday Congal Day 14 Wednesday Congal Day 15 Thursday Congal Day 16 Friday Congal Day 17 Saturday We will have breakfast pack our things and then return to our hotel in Quito with plenty of time to relax and experience festivities in Quito at night. Day 18 Sunday We will spend today in Quito and Visit the Artisan Market and Parque Elijido where you will have a chance to bring back traditional Ecuadorian artwork and souvenirs, produced by the indigenous community, Otavalo. Day 19 Monday We will take our private bus ascend through the Andes and spend the day in beautiful Papallacta. We will visit the incredibly relaxing thermal pools placed right in the mountain side with the cool mountain river running along side the natural hot springs. Have lunch and return late afternoon to Quito where we will have our last night. Day 20 Tuesday Return Home
